About Us

"von Waldhaus" is a small specialty breeding kennel founded in optimism and a strong belief in the outstanding potential of the German Shepherd Dog. Our aim is, by careful selection, to produce predictable breeding results directed at the "golden middle", the balance of excellent conformation and excellent working abilities.

We plan to always be a small kennel because our goal is to produce an elite level of German Shepherd Dogs for the love of the breed and our dogs, not for a business. We love to show, train, and work our dogs. We want to spread the word and let our dogs convert others to see the wisdom of Max von Stephanitz's vision for the German Shepherd Dog.

We have focused on lines that have proven themselves both in conformation and in working ability. Our pedigrees have many VAs and VA1s (World Siegers) in them because of their abilities to transmit excellent conformation (structure, temperament, pigment) and good working abilities. We also look for high "V" and KKL1 dogs that have excellent working abilities in the same pedigree. The aim is to keep this balance, not to just breed for show or to breed just for sport. In short, we like outstanding temperament connected with a real beauty that has excellent trainability and drive.

For a breeding kennel to produce consistently and uniformly at the highest standard it must have outstanding foundation stock which is bred to the very best mate which compliments and enhances the chances of maintaining or improving the attributes of both in their progeny. We are very proud of the quality of our breeding stock we have to achieve our objectives.

In order to achieve our goals for our breeding program, to produce outstanding German Shepherd Dogs that combine excellent conformation and excellent working drive, we will match this foundation stock with suitable VA & high V mates.
